Strictly Female Crepe Toppings. No men allowed. The pink shirt is called a poetess shirt. I don't think Maya Angelou composes poetry while wearing one of these shirts.
Update: March 13, 2005. A reader thinks that it is Susan Dey wearing the poetess shirt. She was a teen model but began acting in the Partridge Family in 1970. She would have been 18 or 19 when this catalog came out.
Update: March 21, 2005. I received this e-mail from a reader:
Dear Linda,
No, that's not model/actress Susan Dey on page 18 of the 1971 Sears catalog. It's the sixties' popular teenage model Colleen Corby. Oprah Winfrey liked her the best because she could imagine that she was African-American with her dark hair and little turned up nose.
Colleen worked for Ford Models. She has retired since the seventies and is busy being a mom to her sons.
